Project partners of the Erasmus+ KA220 project SUDEM – Digitalisation of Sustainable Disaster and Emergency Management Processes gathered in Ankara, Türkiye, for the third transnational consortium meeting hosted by Composite Information Technologies (CIT) in cooperation with the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD). The meeting focused on reviewing project progress, coordinating the next implementation phase, and strengthening cooperation among consortium members.
During the meeting, partners reviewed the overall implementation status of the project, including the progress of all work packages, curriculum development, deployment of the digital learning platform, dissemination activities, and preparation of the intermediate project report. Particular attention was devoted to finalising the SUDEM curriculum, validating educational materials, and planning the remaining project deliverables.
The consortium also discussed the development of the complete SUDEM curriculum consisting of eleven multidisciplinary courses covering disaster management workflows, IoT technologies, artificial intelligence, edge computing, system resilience, nuclear safety, and train-the-trainers activities. Partners exchanged experiences, coordinated responsibilities for the remaining learning materials, and agreed on the next milestones for curriculum completion.
A key part of the programme included a visit to the AFAD Disaster Control Centre, where participants explored Türkiye’s integrated disaster management system, digital emergency response infrastructure, and operational coordination mechanisms. The visit provided valuable insights into the practical application of digital technologies supporting disaster preparedness and emergency response.
The meeting concluded with discussions on the project’s next implementation phase, including the completion of educational resources, deployment of the Moodle learning environment, preparation of the intermediate technical and financial report, and planning future dissemination and sustainability activities. The consortium reaffirmed its commitment to delivering high-quality educational resources that will strengthen disaster and emergency management capacity across Europe.
