Working Meeting of the SUDEM Project Held at Hochschule Offenburg

Date: 11–12 September 2024

Project partners of the Erasmus+ KA220 project SUDEM – Digitalisation of Sustainable Disaster and Emergency Management Processes gathered at Hochschule Offenburg – University of Applied Sciences, Germany, for a series of working meetings dedicated to reviewing project progress and coordinating upcoming activities.

The meeting brought together representatives of the consortium from Bulgaria, Germany, Türkiye, and Ukraine. Participants reviewed the current status of the project, discussed the implementation of ongoing work packages, and coordinated the next stages of curriculum development and project implementation.

Particular attention was given to Work Package 2, focusing on the foresight study and the first phase of the learning concept and curriculum development. Partners presented the interim results achieved by their institutions, exchanged experiences, and discussed approaches to developing innovative educational materials that support the digitalisation of disaster and emergency management.

During the meetings, consortium members reviewed the progress made in developing the project curriculum, discussed methodological approaches for future learning modules, and coordinated the preparation of the next project deliverables. The discussions also focused on strengthening cooperation among partners and ensuring consistency in the development of educational content.

As part of the visit, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Axel Sikora, Scientific Director of the Institute for Reliable Embedded Systems and Communication Electronics (ivESK), introduced Hochschule Offenburg and presented its main research activities. Participants visited the institute’s laboratories, where they were introduced to ongoing research in embedded systems, Internet of Things (IoT), communication technologies, edge computing, and digitalisation. These technologies provide an important technological foundation for the innovative educational content being developed within the SUDEM project.

The meeting concluded with planning sessions dedicated to the next implementation phase. Consortium members agreed on future activities, coordinated upcoming deliverables, and outlined the work plan for the following project period. The partners also confirmed that the next consortium meeting would take place in May 2025 in Ankara, Türkiye, where further progress on the project implementation would be reviewed.
