Researchers, academics, and professionals are invited to submit papers to the First Workshop on Transdisciplinary Research in Digitalization of Disaster and Emergency Management (DDEM), which will be held as part of the SDPS 2026 Conference on 24 August 2026 in Leuven, Belgium.
The workshop is chaired by Prof. Dr. Mehmet Akşit (World Alliance on Digitalization for Disaster & Emergency Management), Seher Turan (University of Twente, The Netherlands), and Prof. Dr. Kyoung-Yun Joseph Kim (Wayne State University, USA).
The DDEM workshop aims to bring together researchers working on innovative approaches to the digitalisation of disaster and emergency management. The workshop focuses on transdisciplinary research integrating disaster management, artificial intelligence, digital twins, systems engineering, IoT, sensor networks, autonomous systems, data analytics, and decision-support technologies.
As climate change, rapid urbanisation, and other global challenges continue to increase both the frequency and severity of disasters, the workshop seeks contributions presenting novel concepts, methodologies, architectures, and practical applications that improve disaster preparedness, response, recovery, and resilience.
Authors are invited to submit original research papers following the SDPS Conference submission guidelines.

Accepted papers will be presented during the workshop, published in the SDPS 2026 Conference Proceedings, and selected papers may be invited to submit extended versions for a special journal issue.
